Great Happy Hour MenuThe lamb burger was delicious and very cheap. However, lemonade was as much as a hard cider. There signature Rhubarb dessert was beyond tart and I like tart foods but I could not eat it. Customer service was great and the rhubarb was removed from the bill so I was happy.
MoreLamb burger with goat cheese was great. Everyone working was super friendly. Will come back here again!
MoreGreat breakfast place . Good service , wait time may be inevitable and the food is yum! We went there for Sunday breakfast and enjoyed the experience . Ballard market is the image with fries on the side , oat meal is the second one, freshly squeezed orange juice was refreshing . Must try
MoreGreat food, much of it sourced locally. Nice portions. Great bar with many tasty cocktails created in house. Give the weekend brunch a try, it's stellar. Pizza from the woid fired stone oven is superb. Only thing missing is tablecloths, and I didn't miss them. Staff is friendly but can seem a bit overtaxed when it's crowded. I've never been disappointed here.
MoreGreat food, nice restaurant. Feels like a great local spot, not a duverse menu but really good at what they make.
MoreLove how the menu changes seasonally. Good place to go if everyone is picky, you'll always find something to eat.
MoreGreat food and service. A lot of food choices.
All day Tuesday Happy Hour is the best HH in Ballard!
Phenomenal service in this new American eatery in what used to be the Ballard firehouse. From the old fire pole hanging from the ceiling, to the small brass fire fighter figures, and cavernous dining area, you are reminded of this restaurant's past. The drinks at the bar are top notch, and the good is equally delicious. A brick oven glows near the kitchen for pizza, and the menu takes on a seasonal approach. On Sundays they do a family style fried chicken dinner, but go early because they only have a limited amount and sell out fairly quick.
MoreThe Hi-Life is one of those places they make tv series of: Cheers, Friends, etc... It's just one of those places you can see yourself hanging out in all the time! The staff are the friendliest bunch of people, the atmosphere & decor remind you what comfort is all about, and the food...the food is fantastic! My personal favorite is the batard covered in that wonderfully, delicious syrup! If I lived in, or around Ballard, I would definitely visit more often, but well done there whenever possible! Definitely would recommend this place to family & friends!
MoreGreat building and ambiance. Serious portions and genuinely homemade food. Service was great and the food options good. Come hungry!
MoreThis little gem sits right off Market, I always dress like a bum but this place is pretty nice, and they still treat me with respect, very friendly, capable staff. Two happy hours, we had $5 chevre/fungi pizza, $6 black bean empanadas, $6 little sandwich and creamy mushroom. The $5 "the bish" with blood orange vodka and ginger, very tasty!Summary: Classy, affordable and excellent food and drink without being pretentious.Five stars!
MoreGood tap selection. The firehouse eggs Benedict is pretty good! Service is good especially considering how busy they can get. But they are always kind and do a great job!
MoreGreat spot for a delicious breakfast inside a firehouse! The egg scramble was fantastic, and the fried potatoes were excellently seasoned and crispy. Shout out to Sergio, who was a great server and with a very pleasant attitude that made the experience that much better!
MoreThis place was pretty cool. It's an old historic firehouse. The food and drinks were great, as well as the service. The fancy french toast was bomb!
MoreOne of our friends suggested this place so we decided to give it a try. The menu was really small which might have been a seasonal thing but we felt like the options weren’t the best. (It might be better at a different time of day!) We both ended up getting the pulled pork sandwich, as itself it was good we were big fans of the slaw. The service was pretty slow and it wasn’t very busy. The staff was friendly and it seemed like a great atmosphere.
MoreOh My God. A Blessing on this Earth. THE Hi-Life at its finest with their french toast. Firehouse doors, Firehouse vibe, Fire French Toast, I'm going back soon to try more. I think they have a different one on their seasonal menu different from the one shown here. Then theirs the one with eggs and bacon. I'm on the move for those next.Parking is a drag if you park like me and not pay and then get a ticket when you thought 30 min no attendant would show in time haha dangit. Pay for parking if you go here. I've been to this place years ago and this was the first time back. French toast might've been different, more tough to put down before, which, I like a challenge. French toast of today, it's really good, I could eat another plate though or like half. It's on the threshold of filling. Damn good though. Cant find the batard bread anywhere. Exclusive French Toast. Haha Fun Articulate Atmosphere.
MoreGreat brunch place, but it gets crowded so better book a table.
Best eggs Benedict ever! Great ambiance. Good service!
Great food and service. Nice selection of vegan and gluten free items. Decent prices for the size of plates and quality of food. My kids ate off the kids menu and gobbled it all up, I had the Ballard Market and it was delicious.
MoreReally cool atmosphere. Good happy hour prices, food was pretty good. Good drink prices
MoreThis place has always been a go to when I have friends or family in town. Foods reliably good and their cocktails are magic. Service is usually top notch.
MoreNice place, was here for a work dinner and food was good, beers were good too. There's one or two vegan dishes as well. Service was prompt and courteous. This is an old fire station and has a nice feel to it.
MoreLet me start off by saying that the building itself is nice, and pretty cool. My experience wasn’t that great. It started by being seated at the table, and noticing there are spiderwebs and dead bugs on the lamp. Then, I got my coffee cup, and there was lipstick on the cup.... our server was very nice and replaced the cup.. but the food was very mediocre. I was very unimpressed. Not only that, but the menu is totally bizarre. There are a bunch of “Hispanic” items on the menu, which is odd because the only culture in this place are the hard working cooks and staff in the kitchen. I wouldn’t recommend this palace if you’re going for a good meal.
MoreGreat food, quick service, nice ambient in the heart of Ballard.
Nice atmosphere and decor. Food was tasty also. Nice lunch spot where you can get breakfast.
MoreExcellent spot for breakfast or lunch. We had a party of 9 come in for lunch and they were able to seat us immediately. They served both breakfast and lunch until 3. I got the chicken pot pie with a house salad and it was delightful. The pot pie was super thick and rich with a homemade biscuit topping, a generous portion but so ridiculously big that I couldn't finish it. The house salad was ok, it was just bib lettuce and croutons but nice to have some greens to compliment the rich dinner. Our group got a mix of breakfast and lunch and everything looked amazing. I tried a sip of the tomato basil soup and would have gotten a whole bowl of that with some crusty bread to myself. Overall A+!
MoreThe food here is really good. It's like a home cooked meal. I really like one of their bar tenders, Ben. He's really nice and super pleasant. Their happy hour is one of the few places that is actually worth it too. I love getting the Mac and Cheese because it's made from scratch and only $4.... It's like doing it at home. It's different every time I get it, and that is a good thing to me. Probably my favorite place in Ballard.
MoreGreat ambiance. I usually go here for breakfast and can only say that their breakfast dishes are generally delicious. Girlfriend loves the biscuits and gravy. A fan of their enchilada stack. Coffee is also great.
More$4, $5, $6 happy hour menu with a huge variety for happy hour food. It will please vegans and carnivores alike. Food is delicious and unique. Great cocktail list and lovely bartenders.
MoreThe hi-life is very good to great 95% of the time. You just go there and the food and drinks make you happy and satisfied. Breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner. A little expensive, but worth it and not out of line. It is loud and can get very crowded at times.
MoreRobin was the most fabulous chef and our meal was fantastic!!!
The food and atmosphere are unique. Children welcome which is hard to find in the city. The building is pretty amazing.
MorePretty good all around but the food can be uneven and oddly, sometimes the beer is too cold served in a frosty glass (more suitable for Bud or Coors than a craft IPA). Still, these don't keep me from coming back. The staff is nice and it's big enough you can always get in. I like the ambience of the historic building.
MoreFood here is consistently good, and on this particular evening, our wait staff was fantastic. Good varied menu - ideal if you're with people with different preferences. Hard not to find something to like.
MoreGreat food! Portions are reasonable and delicious. The atmosphere and staff are great! I had the Ballard vegetable scramble which was very well made.
MoreWe were there just as it opened on a Friday morning and were the first people in the place for about 15-20 minutes. They have just started their spring menu which includes a delicious goat cheese scramble. Also, the potatoes are exceptional. Service was quick and our food came out fast. I have been there once before when it was very busy and service was still quick and our food still came pretty fast.
MoreFood is great, Breakfast menu until 3 pm all week!!! Just what we were looking for. Sat on the patio. Service was great.
MoreGreat food with rotating menu items. Very kid friendly. Brunch in particular is worth going to here.
MoreStandard Seattle fair. Uninspired but consistent. It’s a good place to bring people who are not adventurous fir a typical Seattle repas. Plus the people are quite nice. Happy hour is a reasonable deal.
MoreWe went for Brunch and it was excellent. A great menu and unique location. There was an interesting drink menu aswell. Great food with good portions. The staff was great & very patient with the 2 year old in our party who insisted on roaming every few minutes.
MoreTasty happy hour stop at The Hi-Life! The beers were $1 off and they had some good local options on tap. For happy hour we got a pizza and fries to share. The fries were a large portion and were crispy and tasty and came with aioli. The pizza was also delicious. We got the pig in the orchard pizza. It had bacon, peppers, and goat cheese on it. The crust was light and crispy and there was plenty to share between two people. For the food and two beers it was under $20 for happy hour! I would definitely recommend a stop by for happy hour!
MoreSo we came here for the fried chicken, but we found out its only served on Sunday. It's a Tuesday and we were happily greeted and taken cared of by wonderful staff members and the food and drinks helped the great experience. We will surely come back, the happy hour Tuesday menu has good portions and flavors that were different and unique. So update, today I finally got to taste the fried chicken. Sooo happy that we came back on Sunday for the Fried Chicken. They are moist and soo flavorful.
MoreGreat atmosphere. Was perfect for a rainy day, and I went to support my local firemen at the annual pancake feed. A worthy cause and reason to go. A+.
MoreThe Hi-Life has great food and ambiance. The bar is also really cool and they open the doors wide when it's warm. Their Sunday night chicken dinner is ridiculously good. You get a half chicken cooked to perfection. Even a large appetite will be taking some home!
MoreGood food and great coffee!I got the special French toast with eggs and bacon. The sauce on the French toast was amazing. Not your normal toast, it was thick and didn't get soggy. The coffee was really great! The inside is like a family restaurant and more traditional. I'd definitely recommend.
MoreBig disappointment. Looked at the menu on-line and was looking forward to the mac & cheese and bread pudding for lunch. The m&c was soupy with little flavor. The bread pudding is only available for dinner. What's that all about? Nobody has dessert for lunch. Nice place to eat but I wouldn't expect much
MoreGreat brunch! Service was excellent and the food was plentiful!
The Hi-Life offers a relaxed atmosphere at a great neighborhood. They give generous portion of tasty food to jumpstart your day.
MoreGreat service, great food, great times!
